2¢ Carmine 7LL46

A distinctive retouch of the vertical line of the left numeral box.

Research notes:

Reiche No. 34 short line in left numeral box, original die (The line is not particularly short, but would seem to agree with his diagram.)

Plate position confirmed by LB using the plate proofs at LAC.

Leo's Notes

  • The thickness of the vertical line of the LNB varies. It is thin at the top corner, very thick opposite the top part of the 2, less thick opposite the middle of the 2, very thick again below the bottom of the 2, but stops short of the LL corner.

  • Gap at the LL corner of the LNB because the vertical and bottom lines stop short. The vertical line has a spur on the left side that goes down to the corner but does not touch the bottom line.

We use Statser to measure basic website usage without cookies. The system processes page views, clicks, form submissions without form contents, referrers, browser/device information, error pages, approximate visit duration, and pseudonymous visitor keys. Full IP addresses are not stored permanently by Statser; they are processed briefly on the server to create a pseudonymous visitor key, apply technical exclusions, and optionally resolve approximate GeoIP information. If GeoIP is enabled, the IP address is checked locally against a MaxMind GeoLite2 database to determine the approximate country or city. The visitor IP address is not sent to MaxMind. MaxMind is contacted only to download and update the GeoLite2 database. Detailed data is deleted after the configured detail retention period. For long-term trends, Statser also stores aggregated daily values without individual visitor profiles.
